Homebrew Monsters
for DnD 5e

Well met, traveler!

From fungal-infested forests to winding caverns, through the streets of a bustling metropolis, or hidden in a chest beneath the bed, the planes are swarming with magical creatures and fantastic beings! Most, however, slip by unnoticed – far too obscure or simply too small to be spotted by the inattentive passersby. Only the resourceful adventurer knows exactly how to find them!

This is the Fluffy Folio – an ever-growing collection of quirky creatures, mysterious monsters, brilliant beings and more – all ready to fill up even the most peculiar places of your adventurous DnD worlds

Set out on a wonderful journey to discover:

Meet the Twiddletoad
a feisty creature from the swamps

A small toxic creature, very feisty in nature. A rare sight and strongly discussed among alchemists, wizards, biologists and suchlike, whether it even exists or not. Nevertheless, the twiddletoad is a highly sought after little critter, as its mucus is said to have magical and highly beneficial effects on mental capacities – among the many potentially dangerous side effects which may occur. Rumour has it that the Twiddletoad‘s preferred habitats are moist and gloomy places such as swamps, ravines, caves or similar locations.

Homebrew Monsters for all Likings

How about a fabulous encounter that needs more than just a few swings with a sword to overcome? A monster that prefers talking over fighting? A hidden foe that hits hard just to slip away again? A creature lurking in the shadows slowly luring the brave group of adventures deeper and deeper into trouble? A bunch of cuddly undead that literally grow attached to your players? Or do you need peculiar familiars to accompany your party?

If you are looking for monsters that offer chances for dynamic interactions outside of “just kill it!”, you came to the right place. The Fluffy Folio offers countless tactical, eccentric, cute, creepy, and quirky lovingly crafted homebrew creatures!

Meet the Homebrew
a most peculiar ooze

The homebrew is a quite peculiar blend of acidic ooze, earthy texture and spicy spirits. Of course, it was the most favoured one of Tisdor Dwindleteeth III who wasn’t only a skillful necromancer but also a keen connoisseur of aromatic roasts and complex flavors. And he was best friends with Herzeleide – at least for a brief period of time. Her passionate approach to eccentric cuisine combined with his likewise peculiar knowledge of the macabre magic set the cornerstone for Herzeleide’s highly regarded "The Twinkling Twiddletoad"...and flooded the streets, counters and tables of Falbheim with homebrews for all tastes.

Breath life into your Campaign

…and fill up even the most peculiar places of your adventurous worlds!

The one thing that bothered me most was a lack of creatures that are just…there. Everyday monsters you would find when unturning stones, hiding under the shelf of a store for alchemistic supplies, in a buzzing kitchen trying to steal some leftovers or simply by taking a walk down the alley of a rural village. Whether you are working on peaceful meadows just outside the city gates, a lush swamp overflowing with creatures of all kinds, age-old ruins forgotten by time itself or building a setting so exceptional that nothing seems to fit in: the Fluffy Folio might have exactly what you need – homebrew monsters that make your world feel alive!

Meet the Wizard
just a lizard, right?

An arcane anomaly is what they described the wizard to be; a rejected experiment; nothing more to worry about they said – after all, it is just a lizard, they so naively thought. Shortly after, the streets of Falbheim were shattered by spells that were exclusively known to the well-read and most exalted scholars of wizardry. With all of the city’s magical stores, arcane schools as well as magically gifted resident, the wizard found a perfect place to live, to feed and thrive.

All Tiny Pc

Tiny Character Species

Sometimes, big problems require tiny solutions. What better opportunity to shine for a Thumbstall Traveltuber, Deadrose Wildsprout or Hornlet Strayspirit? Delve deep into the smaller world beneath our feet, discover new feats and go places the larger creatures can only dream about.

Thumbstall Traveltuber
And yet, the thumbstall traveltubers are different. Highly regarded throughout the Thumbstall Empire, only they have the ability to stray far and long without needing to bask in their sovereign’s spells. Although the Thumbstall Queen’s magic is barely able to imbue the traveltubers bodies or minds, their allies and themselves are still blessed by her bracing presence.

Deadrose Wildsprout
Emerging far away, only the deadrose wildsprouts are born unburdened by their queen’s embrace. Most of them continue on into a life of exploration and adventure. Some, however, feel a subtle urge to return into the mercilessly loving arms of the ever-withering Deadrose Queen.

Hornlet Strayspirit
Exempt from the geistcallers’ ruling and unlike the others, only the straysprits neither stay within the safe reach of their towers nor walk on a predefined path. Instead, they carve their own and much like they are able to reshape their horns, they also reshape their fate.

Meet the Chromunculus
a construct overflowing with colors

Said to be invented by an eccentric wizard, this little construct’s designated purpose was to absorb and store magical energy. The experiments failed and resulted in the creation of the chromunculus. Its remarkable ability to absorb the colors of its surroundings can cause a lot of damage nonetheless. A wandering chromunculus has ruined many cloth merchants, artists or jewellers by leaving nothing but grayness behind. Remaining motionless, the chromunculus is easily mistaken as an ordinary flask brought to the city as part of alchemists‘ or magi‘s deliveries.

Adventure awaits!

…but of course, every decent group of adventurers has to face challenges of epic proportions at some point, right?

Each month my Patrons decide on the creature type of a huge feature-rich monster. From dragons thundering through the skies, to ancient automatons patrolling contorted sewers and eldritch horrors creeping close – over the time, the collection has grown quite a bit! All my huge monsters feature unique battle tactics they'll eagerly unleash upon their challengers. Adventurers be advised: plan ahead, sharpen your weapons and minds and be sure to be prepared before setting out!

Meet the Sword Sword
a trusty companion

Stalwart, courageous and a little bit edgy – it may be tiny but the sword sword stands tall. Unbroken, it fights those aggressively threatening its quest. It is the most adventurous among its kin – a crusader roaming through hostile lands and dangerous empires. Occasionally, the sharp-witted soldier bands up with daring wanderers and offers its services to those deemed worthy enough. Being swirled around isn‘t something the sword sword highly appreciates but it will do as it must to repel the enemy.

Meet the Gooze
is it an ooze, is it a goose? Yes!

...and thus, a new horror was unleashed onto Falbheim’s already more than hazardous substructures. Tisdor Dwindleteeth III’s joy was immeasurable when he finally managed to merge magically condensed consciousness with one of his many specimen of ooze. Of course, even the slightest bit of joy for the infamous necromancer meant trouble for everyone else – great trouble to be precise. After a short period of pondering, the gooze – as this monstrous abomination was later named – instantly assumed the most destructive shape it was able to imagine...just to wreak havoc wherever it waddles.

Meet the Heartbold
a quite affectionate undead

Big feelings on tiny legs. How these little creatures came to be and why they wander the land is an utterly unknown mystery. Some say a heartbold is filled with the fragment of a kind soul: maybe a lover’s love, the compassion of a wise hunter, a proud warrior’s devotion or the gratitude of a blushing artist before the crowd. Perhaps repulsive at first glance, legend has it that this strange creature has the ability to convey positive feelings to others helping them to tame their inner weaknesses – the feeble feel a bit stronger, the scared slightly braver and the raddled find a new gleam of hope. Stumbling upon a heartbold is quite a rare event though, as they are completely defenseless and often fall prey to animals or monsters.
